straight corn noun Whiskey made from corn rather than from sugar.

1939 Hall Coll (Emerts Cove TN) They made straight corn. They didn’t make no sugar liquor.  1949 Maurer Argot Moonshiner 4 So-called “corn whisky” is still made, although the pure corn or straight corn of older days is now practically nonexistent.  Ibid. 12 = liquor made from corn only, with no sugar. Rare in fact, but not so rare in claim. “Is this straight corn?” “Is this corn likker?”; “Shore it’s pure corn likker”; “This is straight corn likker. No sugar.
