Douglas Finkel to visit Department of Art
On March 18, 19, and 20 of 2014, 3D artist Douglas Finkel will visit USC's Department of Art.
After studying Humanities as an undergraduate, Doug Finkel returned to college and studied Woodworking for two years at Bucks County Community College, under the tutelage of Mark Sfirri, then for a year at the School for American Crafts, Rochester Institute of Technology. He has been both a woodworking artist and a woodworking teacher for the past twenty years. His work, often inspired by Asian and folk traditions, experiments with form, proportion and texture. It ranges from furniture to carvings, turnings, and sculpture. It can be found in a number of collections including the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Today he is the Woodworking teacher at St. Paul’s School, Md.
