Fingerreisen an exhibition by Elisabeth Pellathy and Lee Somers

August 25th - October 6th, 2015

Opening Reception: Thursday, August 25th  from 5-7 pm and a Gallery Talk with Pellathy and Somers at 5:30pm

Fingerreisen is the German term for imaginary journeys taken by both the hand and the mind interacting with maps. Elisabeth Pellathy and Lee Somers use maps as a starting point for imaginary journeys and as a visual record for the experience of place. The exhibition includes traditional and experimental artistic processes including sculpture, drawing, video, and sound that investigate unconventional notions of exploring landscape.



Soil

October 27th - December 8th, 2015

Opening Reception: Thursday October 27th from 5-7pm and a Gallery Talk at with Jarod Charzewski at 5:30pm

The site-specific installation makes to reference the consumer culture of western civilizations and the speed at which we mass-produce, consume and reproduce goods and materials. The plethora of unsold materials used in the immersive landscape are abundant in the region of Columbia, SC and is a minuscule portion of the tons of goods destined for the landfill daily. 


Drawing for Meaning, an exhibition of SVAD Faculty Drawings 

January 12th - February 9th, 2017

Opening Reception: Thursday January 19th, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a gallery talk at 5:30pm

Drawing for Meaning brings together faculty from across the School of Visual Art and Design in an exhibition that examines how drawing enables discovery and invention in the studio, the classroom, and in academic and field research. The exhibition highlights the diverse ways in which drawing impacts creative and academic practices and lends insight into how drawing is a vital component of a range of creative projects and processes.

62nd Annual USC Student Art Exhibition 

February 23rd - March 16th, 2017

Exhibition Reception and Awards Ceremony: Thursday February 23rd from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with Awards Ceremony at 6:00pm

The 62nd Annual Juried Student Exhibition will include original artworks of a variety of mediums by current undergraduate and graduate students of the University of South Carolina’s School of Visual Art and Design. The presentation of awards will include: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place undergraduate winners, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place graduate winners, and one Best of Show winner.


 62nd Annual Art Auction

March 29th, 2017

The 62nd Annual Art Auction will include original artworks of a variety of mediums including: sculpture, printmaking, photography, paintings and ceramics made by faculty, current students, and alumni of the University of South Carolina’s School of Visual Art and Design and artists within the community. 

These artworks will go to the highest bidders Wednesday March 29th, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm in the McMaster Gallery.
