ART: Education, History, Media, Studio
Welcome
We welcome your interest in the Department of Art at the University of South Carolina. Our department boasts an 85,000-square-foot facility designed specifically for the study and creation of the visual arts. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in four major artistic disciplines: Art Education, Art History, Art Studio, and Media Arts. Within Studio we offer courses in a full range of media, including painting, printmaking, ceramics, photography, sculpture, drawing and graphic design. Students of Media Arts work in a broad spectrum of screen-based art, from mobile devices to Internet art, video games to motion pictures. Our Art Education program provides most of South Carolina's K-12 art teachers. The department's Art History program offers a full range of courses in Western art and architecture from the Renaissance to the present.
Our faculty members possess national and international reputations in their areas of expertise and are a cohesive group of cutting-edge professionals who have dedicated their lives to art and its teaching.
