Chemistry and Biochemistry Seminar

Friday, February 17, 2017 - 4:00pm

Location: Jones Physical Science Center

Speaker: Dr. Vitaly Rassolov, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of South Carolina

Topic: Seeing is Believing: Electron Correlation Made Simple

Abstract: Electron correlation lies at the heart of almost all modern computational methods to study molecules and their reactions. This correlation is quantum in nature, thus is often hard to understand despite sophisticated analogies and models that have been developed over the decades. We present a novel way to visualize and analyze electron correlation, using the geminal model developed in the group.
