Dr. Geoff Alpert Receives Grant of Nearly $800,000
Professor Geoff Alpert recently received a grant of nearly $800,000 from the U.S. Department of Justice: An Evaluation of a Social Interaction Training Program to Reduce the Use of Force and Build Legitimacy. Dr. Alpert will be joined by researchers at the University of Texas, El Paso and Michigan State University in testing the effects of “T3” training for police officers. T3 refers to tact, tactics, and trust. The training seeks to build officers’ skills in de-escalating confrontations, ultimately reducing use of force and force-related injuries as well as improving relations with the community.
