Graduate Admissions

The following are guidelines. It is recognized that each student is unique and applicants are considered on an individual basis. The deadline for being considered for the first round of TA appointments is January 1st. Applications received after that date may be placed on the waiting list.

Admission Requirements for all graduate programs in Languages, Literatures and Cultures

Additional admission requirements for the CPLT M.A. successful applicants will generally hold a BA degree in literature or related subject, and have achieved graduate level competence in at least one foreign language.

Additional admission requirements for the CPLT Ph.D. Applicants should have a 3.0 GPA in their undergraduate major and a 3.5 GPA in graduate course work. They should have significant course work in at least one foreign language and a minimum of 480 on  the verbal and 4.0 on the analytical sections of the GRE (400 and 3.5 for nonnative speakers). For GRE tests taken after August 2011, they should have a minimum of 153 on the verbal and 4.0 on the analytical sections of the GRE (146 and 3.5 for nonnative speakers).
