Dissertation Defenses, Spring 2015

(Leo) Gengsong Gao -- “Debating Modernity: Contemporary Chinese Public Intellectuals and Novelists”. Leo will begin as  NEH Assistant Professor of Chinese Studies at the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at the University of Richmond in the fall.

 

Todd Spaulding -- “H.P. Lovecraft & The French Connection: Translation, Pulps and Literary History”. Todd has accepted a position at Meadow Glen Middle School starting in August.

 

Xianmin Shen -- “Destination Hong Kong: Negotiating Locality in Hong Kong Novels, 1945-1966.” Xianmin will join the English Department at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.

 

Cristina Benner – “The "Wound of Existence": A Nietzschean Reading of García Lorca's Rural Trilogy”.

Isabel Meusen – “Unacknowledged Victims: Love between Women in the Narrative of the Holocaust. An Analysis of Memoirs, Novels, Films, and Public Memorials”.
