 The Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF) offers you the opportunity to work in France for 7 months, teaching English to French students of all ages. Each year, over 1,100 American citizens and permanent residents teach in public schools across all regions of metropolitan France and in French overseas departments, such as Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Réunion.  The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers teaching assistantship opportunities in French-speaking countries in Europe and Africa. Program descriptions vary. Students must have a Bachelors degree or be a graduating college senior. Future teachers of French preferred in some cases, but not required. Click here for more information.

  • Who should apply? The schools we work with seek students with a strong content knowledge and the potential to motivate and inspire teenagers in and out of the classroom as a teacher. They do NOT need a teaching license or education major to be successful.
  • How do I apply? Apply to become a Southern Teachers candidate by completing the online application and submitting a resume and cover letter to be considered. 
  • Why Southern Teachers? Southern Teachers has helped private/independent K-12 schools find qualified teachers since 1902. Today we work with over 600 schools from Maryland to Miami and west to Midland, TX. The service is free to teacher candidates! 
  • How do I see what jobs are out there? Southern Teachers has two upcoming job fairs that are free for active candidates: Atlanta, GA on February 4 and Washington, DC on March 25. To become an "active candidate," you must complete the online application, be accepted by Southern Teachers and interview with a Southern Teachers Placement Counselor. The deadline for completing the application to participate in the job fair in Atlanta, GA is 5 pm January 23, 2017.
