Graduate Programs in Languages, Literatures and Cultures

Welcome to the graduate programs of the DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGES, LITERATURES & CULTURES.

Graduate Program News

We offer MA degrees in Comparative Literature, French, German and Spanish, PhD degrees in Comparative Literature and Spanish, and MAT degrees in Foreign Languages with emphasis in French, German, or Spanish. Why should you choose to study with us? Please read what some of our recent graduates have to say about our program.

In the following pages, you will find information on admissions standards and application procedures, teaching assistant positions, travel policies and health insurance, requirements for degree completion, awards, as well as an idea of the courses we have offered over the past few years. You can access also the Graduate Student Handbook (in PDF form). The Handbook is updated every year.

We are making a constant effort to update and improve the website, so that it properly anticipates and clearly answers all of your questions. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to improve it. All graduate forms can be found here.

If you are an applicant, please feel encouraged to make direct contact with the person or persons knowledgeable about your area. You will see the faculty and administrative staff responsible for the graduate programs listed below. Before asking specific questions, however, we recommend that you study the online information first.
