Award-Winning Director, Léa Pool, to Speak at USC

Swiss-Canadian director, Léa Pool, will be in Columbia on Tuesday, October 23rd to meet with USC French students (11-12:15, room HU 104) and introduce her film, Maman est chez le coiffeur (Mommy is at the hairdresser’s), at the opening of the CinéCola French and Francophone Film Festival (Columbia Museum of Art, 7 pm.). Swiss born, Pool immigrated to Canada at age 15. She has become an important fixture in the Canadian film scene and a recipient of many prestigious awards and honors from around the world. Pool has been a jury member at several film festivals in the US and Europe and regularly teaches screen writing and film directing in various schools such as l’Université du Québec à Montréal (UQUAM) and L’Institut National de l’Image et du Son (INIS). Her most recent films include:
