Dr. Rocío Zalba received her Ph.D. in Latin American literature from the University of Kansas and her M.A in Hispanic Literature from the University of Toronto, Canada. She specializes in the performance of memory as it pertains to the construction of national identity represented in argentine theatre (1980-2001). Her research has led to scholarly presentations and publications that include “Perras, marginalidad y violencia en el teatro argentino del siglo XXI” and “¿Memoria u Olvido? Negociando la identidad presente con los fantasmas del pasado en Té de tías de Cristina Escofet”. She has also co-edited a book with Dr. Jorge Camacho and Dr. Hugo Medrano titled Cuentos de la Habana Elegante (Stockero, 2014). As a language facilitator for the last 20 years, Dr. Zalba continues to explore best practices in world language teaching and learning. Currently, she is researching on the impact of language advocacy in the classroom.
