Welcome to the graduate programs of the DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGES, LITERATURES & CULTURES. We offer MA degrees in Comparative Literature, French, German and Spanish, PhD degrees in Comparative Literature and Spanish, and MAT degrees in Foreign Languages with emphasis in French, German, or Spanish.

In the following pages, you will find information on admissions standards and application procedures, teaching assistant positions, travel policies, requirements for degree completion, as well as an idea of the courses we have offered over the past few years. You can access also the Graduate Student Handbook (in PDF form). The Handbook is updated every year.

We are making a constant effort to update and improve the website, so that it properly anticipates and clearly answers all of your questions. Please let me know if there is anything we can do to improve it.

Keeps all graduate files, processing admissions applications, processing payroll for graduate teaching assistants, liaison with Graduate School, generating and tracking official paperwork.

Graduate Advisors answer questions from applicants to the degree program they oversee. They assist applicants in the completion of their files, advocating for them in meetings of the admissions committee including the awarding of assistantship offers. Current students meet at least once a semester with their advisors to agree on courses to be taken, and to generate and fill out all required paperwork, including the Program of Study, to ensure timely progress toward completion of the degree and graduation. The graduate advisor is the first stop for students enrolled in the degree program.
