Jan Nordby Gretlund talk on Nikky Finney's Poetry

Gretlund will discuss the work of award-winning USC poet Nikki Finney, with special attention to the uniqueness of poetic representation on one hand, Finney's treatment of race, rage, and gender on the other. The talk is entitled “Rage and Radiance: Bronco-Bucking the Clouds – Nikky Finney’s Four Collections of Poetry.”

Jan Gretlund is Senior Lecturer at the Center for American Studies, University of Southern Denmark. He is the author of Eudora Welty’s Aesthetics of Place, Frames of Southern Mind, and, most recently, Heads on Fire: Essays on Southern Fiction. He has also edited eight books on Southern literature and culture, among them Still in Print: The Southern Novel Today (University of South Carolina Press 2010).
