Jessica Junqueira

Graduate Teaching Assistant
First Year English
University of South Carolina

Jessica Junquiera is a sixth-year Ph.D student (ABD). Her primary area of study is Renaissance literature and her secondary area is epic and lyric poetry. She is especially interested in how Renaissance poets employ their classical precursors across a range of genres. Before attending USC, Jessica obtained her Master’s degree at Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf School of English in 2010 and taught in North Carolina. At USC, she teaches English 101 and 102 and works as the editorial assistant for The Spenser Review. Her dissertation traces the formal device of suspension in John Milton’s works. In particular, she is writing about the extent to which Milton echoes and transforms Edmund Spenser's poetry.
