Jiyeon is a doctoral candidate (third-year PhD student) in linguistics with an emphasis in phonology, phonetics and syntax. Her research has focused on Loanword Adaptation in Northern Kyungsang Korean (NKK) and Korean Predicated-Predicate Nominatives (PPN, double nominatives). She presented her paper on Korean PPNs at the Workshop on Altaic Formal Linguistics (Tokyo) in 2017. Jiyeon was awarded Linguistics Program Student Conference Travel Grant and a Travel Grant from the Graduate School for the presentation. She was also awarded the Student Research Awards from the linguistics program for NKK loanwords data collection in the same year.
