I've worked as Associate Director of First-Year English since graduating with my Ph.D in 2007. I specialized in 19th-century British Literature and have published on the Brontës and their relationship to women novelists of the 18th century. I have a particular fondness, though, for teaching freshmen the critical thinking, reading and writing skills they'll need to be successful in college and beyond. For the past few years, I've taught themed ENGL 101 course for Capstone Scholars each Fall, including: “Reading and Writing about Harry Potter as a Cultural Phenomenon" and a similar course on "The Hunger Games."
