COVID-19 Research

June 11, 2020

HVRI faculty and collaborators received two internal research awards from the University's COVID-19 Research Initiative sponsored by the Office of the VP for Research.  Zhenlong Li and colleagues are conducting a preliminary study using social media to monitor the spatial spread of COVID-19 and the effectiveness of control measures.  See his recent television interview explaining the research. HVRI Director, Susan Cutter also has a project examining disparities in response, impact, and recovery from the pandemic. The project is focused on the geographic differences in response (testing, protective actions), impacts (confirmed cases, mortality), and recovery (jobs) and the relationship to pre-existing social vulnerability and the disaster resilience.
