September 1, 2017: HVRI Alum Melanie Bartis, City of Houston Situation Unit Leader, is featured in The Tribune-Democrat for her work in Houston during Hurricane Harvey.

August 30, 2017:  HVRI faculty are lending their expertise to help understand the impacts of Hurricane Harvey.  Cary Mock appeared on the local ABC News talking about the prolific rainfall record.  Susan Cutter talked about evacuations and how complicated the decision is for local elected officials such as the Mayor of Houston.  She also speculated on what would happen if Harvey hit South Carolina for the Charleston Post & Courier
