Spears Concert Hall at campus of Columbia College
The Columbia Holocaust Education Commission, in conjunction with McKissck Museum at USC, is proud to announce a fascinating program at Columbia College—The Boys of Birkenau Movie with a follow up “talk-back."
This program will be conducted by writer Sarah Spoto, a Social Studies teacher in Elgin, SC. Prior to moving to South Carolina, Sarah was working in Rochester, NY and became a close friend and confidant to Holocaust Survivor Henry Silberstern.
Sarah wrote the biography of Henry, describing the years in which teen Henry was shuttled from one concentration camp to another. Ultimately, a movie about Henry’s association with other young male teens during this time was produced, The Boys of Birkenau. Sarah will give her insight and experiences with Henry and the film maker, Rich Newberg.
The program duration is two hours and audience questions will be entertained.
