Ranan Kuperman Lecture I

Tuesday, March 3, 2009 -
7:00pm to 8:30pm

"Israeli experience in asymmetric warfare: What have we learned after 60 years?"

Ranan Kuperman
School of Political Sciences, University of Haifa

This presentation will provide a survey of alternative Israeli reactions to violent attacks initiated by non-state groups over the past 60 years. The purpose of this survey is to assess what were the Israeli considerations when choosing certain strategies and tactics. As will be demonstrated, the effectiveness of reducing Israeli casualties has not necessarily been the highest priority of Israeli decision-makers. Many other factors are included in the decision process leading to the final choice.

 Place: Gambrell Hall 153
