Approved special fields within these concentrations are the following: English/French/German/Spanish linguistics, historical linguistics, linguistic anthropology, philosophy of language, phonological theory, psycholinguistics, second/foreign language acquisition, sociolinguistics, syntactic theory, and teaching English as a second/foreign language.
