On Air in South Carolina: Preserving Radio and Television History at the SCBA Archives
April 11 through August 27, 2016, 3rd floor lobby
For almost thirty years, McKissick has hosted and maintained the archives of the South Carolina Broadcasters Association, a valuable, yet underutilized, scholarly resource. Including photographs, letters, video, and audio recordings, On Air in South Carolina introduces the history of radio and television broadcasting in South Carolina, while also showcasing the holdings of the SCBA Archives. The exhibition not only reveals the changing trends in broadcasting over the past century, but also features those significant local stations and individual broadcasters who became industry leaders and pioneers.
