A Sense of Place: McKissick Museum's 2012 Art Exhibition
A Sense of Place: McKissick Museum's 2012 Art Exhibition
June 15 - August 24, 2012
Second Floor
Can a fundraising exhibition and event be fun and fundamental to furthering an organization’s mission?
With “a sense of place” as the thematic focus of this year’s gala art exhibition, McKissick Museum hopes to spark a conversation between and among artists and art collectors about the role art plays in creating a distinctive southern experience. To better tell the story of southern life—community, culture and the environment—McKissick reached out to select new artists in the region whose work specifically explores the interface between culture and nature.
As a result, the exhibition will feature works by sixty-nine accomplished artists who are shaping and re-imagining what it means to live and work in the south. All works on exhibition can be purchased at McKissick Museum’s A Sense of Place: Gettin' Fresh gala art sale on Friday, August 24, 2012, with proceeds to benefit the Museum’s exhibitions and programs.
