Oyster Roast

This event serves to help raise awareness of the needs of maritime archaeological heritage in the state of South Carolina.

Once a year in the fall, the Maritime Research Division holds our annual Maritime Heritage Awareness Oyster Roast. This event serves to help raise awareness of the needs of maritime archaeological heritage in the state of South Carolina. Whether those needs be financial, material, or volunteered labor, anyone can get involved with the program and the preservation of South Carolina heritage on any level. Get involved and talk with archaeologists and other members of the public about what this state can do to further the protection, preservation, and education regarding our very own maritime heritage resources.
From the historic and beautiful Fort Johnson location in Charleston, the Oyster Roast features amazing local oysters, live entertainment, and a silent auction. Please see our Calendar and News pages for information on our upcoming Oyster Roast.
