The South Carolina Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders Consortium is a network of professionals in various fields who are united by their mission to understand neurodevelopmental and autism disorders to provide support for families affected by this disorder throughout the state of South Carolina. Neurodevelopmental Disorders are caused by impairments of the growth and development of the brain or central nervous system. They unfold as an individual grows and some examples include Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Global Developmental Delay, Language Disorder, etc. Autism is a specific kind of neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with other people as well as using language and abstract concepts.
