Selected Recent and Ongoing Research Projects

Drs. Carbone and Dow
Drs. Carbone, Dow, and Tufford (Biological Sciences) collaborate on the “Carolinas Integrated Sciences and Assessments” (CISA)  which integrates climate science into decision-making by developing information, tools, and processes to support water and coastal management and planning processes. Funding is provided by the NOAA Climate Programs Office.

Dr. Hiscox
April Hiscox and  co-PIs, Jim Wang, Sonny Viator, Ronald DeLaune, Thomas Hymel and Ron SheffieldAtmospheric Emissions of Nitrous Oxide, Ammonia, and Particulate Matter from Subtropical Sugarcane Production”Funding is provided by the US Dept. of Agriculture – Agriculture and Food Research Initiative.

April Hiscox, Mark Rudnicki and Hong-Bing Su “Collaborative Research: Measurement and Modeling of Aerodynamic Interactions between Tree-Sway Motion and Turbulence in and above a Forest Canopy” Funding is provided by the National Science Foundation –Atmospheric Sciences.

Cary Mock “Long Daily Historical Climate Reconstructions for Southern Alaska.”  Funding is provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Cary Mock “Atlantic Basin Tropical Cyclone Reconstructions for the Late Eighteenth and Early Nineteenth Centuries.” Funding is provided by the National Science Foundation.

Cary Mock “Baseline Methods for Reconstructing United States 19th Century Climate Extremes From Historical Data” Funding is provided by the National Science Foundation.
