Tales of the Tidelands is an interdisciplinary, undergraduate, research-based learning project that explores landscape perception and the social effects of environmental change along the South Carolina coast.
In fall 2004, students conducted original research in oral history and documentary production to understand the importance individual and community biographies play in answering questions about the broader historical patterns of political, social, economic and cultural change. This website assembles and interprets the interviews, documentaries, images, research essays and personal memories that Tales of the Tidelands students and faculty members have collected since the project began in 2003.
